January 11, 2021
Foley Hoag LLP partner and United Nations Practice Group Chair Christina Hioureas will speak on a panel titled “Mediation the World Over” at the Third Annual Schiefelbein Global Dispute Resolution Conference on Friday, January 15, 2021. The Third Annual Schiefelbein Global Dispute Resolution Conference will convene top lawyers, counsel for global corporations, internationally recognized arbitrators and mediators, academics, leaders of indigenous groups, and leaders at arbitration institutions to engage in discussions on timely issues in international dispute resolution.
Hioureas and her fellow panelists will focus on some of the global developments in mediation, such as how mediation can assist in dealing with disputes arising out of the pandemic, investor/State, global trade, environmental issues and human rights. Hioureas, in particular, will discuss the new Singapore Convention on Mediation and whether it will help elevate mediation to join arbitration as an accepted international dispute resolution mechanism.
As a member of Foley Hoag’s International Litigation & Arbitration Department, Hioureas represents States, private and State-owned entities, and individuals on international disputes and public international law matters, and advises States on matters before the United Nations and its bodies.
