Foley Hoag Attorney Tracy Roosevelt Appointed to ASIL Executive Council
April 4, 2022
Foley Hoag LLP senior associate Tracy Roosevelt has been appointed to the Executive Council for the American Society of International Law (ASIL). Roosevelt is one of eight members of the Society nominated to serve as an Executive Council member this year for a three-year term. Her term will begin at ASIL’s Annual Meeting this month. The Executive Council is ASIL’s governing body, which is in charge of the general interests of the Society.
“I am honored to take on a leadership role with the Society,” Roosevelt said. “Since I was a law student, and continuing as an attorney, ASIL has provided me the tools to continue to develop my substantive knowledge of international law while developing and fostering contacts with other practitioners and State representatives. I am looking forward to giving back to the ASIL community.”
At Foley Hoag, Roosevelt is member of the International Litigation and Arbitration Department, and is resident in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. She represents sovereign States in State-to-State disputes in international tribunals, investor-State arbitrations, and U.S. federal courts. The subject matter of her representations include treaty breaches, human rights violations and maritime delimitation, among other international disputes. Roosevelt is currently a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Founded in 1906, ASIL is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, educational membership organization. Its mission is to foster the study of international law and to promote the establishment and maintenance of international relations on the basis of law and justice. The Society’s membership - nearly 4,000 individuals from more than 100 countries - is comprised of attorneys, academics, corporate counsel, judges, representatives of governments and nongovernmental organizations, international civil servants, students, and others interested in international law.
