Alex Akhiezer is a partner in Foley Hoag's Intellectual Property Department, where his primary focus is on emergent technologies that operate at the intersection of physics and other fields:

Alex’s practice encompasses patent life cycle management and IP portfolio development. He manages existing IP portfolios, develops IP strategies for venture-backed companies, and works with major research universities on commercialization of various technologies. In addition to patent prosecution, Alex participated in corporate acquisitions, drafted and negotiated portfolio license agreements, and prepared opinions of counsel on matters of infringement and validity.
Alex assisted MIT with obtaining patents that earned its inventors, including Prof. James Fujimoto, the 2017 European Inventor Award, presented by the European Patent Office.
Alex holds a doctorate in Computational Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Under Prof. Bruce Tidor (now an MIT Professor of Biological Engineering and Computer Science), he worked on computational lead optimization techniques based on air foil design methods.
Alex was a recipient of The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans, a 3-year national grant established to provide opportunities for accomplished first-generation Americans who have shown creativity and persistence in achieving leadership in their chosen fields.
