Robert Chow is a partner in Foley Hoag's Business Department and a member of the Emerging Companies and Venture Capital Practice Group. Robert provides practical actionable legal advice to entrepreneurs, emerging growth companies and venture investors. He advises companies at all stages of development, including formation and governance issues, equity and compensation matters, venture capital financings, technology licensing, securities law and other regulatory compliance, and mergers and acquisitions.

Robert also serves as corporate counsel for, among others, software companies, life sciences companies, healthcare IT companies, food services and entertainment companies, companies that deal in renewable energy credits, and companies exploited technologies licensed from universities, including an advanced catalyst technology for petroleum refining that increases the yield of fuels and decreases the amount of waste products produced from refining crude oil.

  • $47 million in financing through several financing rounds for a clean technology company
  • $39 million in financing through several financing rounds for a pharmaceutical company
  • $26 million financing for a data networking infrastructure company

Representation of numerous venture capital firms and other investors in investing an aggregate of over $250 million in portfolio companies, including:

  • $36.8 million investment in a mobile phone handset manufacturer
  • $12.5 million investment in a drug development company
  • $11 million investment in a provider of online marketing solutions

Representation of clients in connection with merger, acquisitions and complex corporate reorganizations, including:

  • several acquisitions of EdTech companies by
  • the sale of a healthcare IT and content company to Merck
  • representation of a bio-manufacturing equipment company in its sale to GE Healthcare
  • the spin-out of a dermatological products company from a pharmaceutical company
  • a remote IT management software company in its acquisition by Citrix Systems
  • sale of a 3D imaging software company to 3D printer manufacturer
