Meredith Haviland concentrates her corporate practice on representing private investment funds and investment advisers in all matters, including formation, investments, acquisitions, divestitures and regulatory matters. Meredith also has significant expertise advising investment funds and corporates in respect of real asset transactions, with a particular focus on international forestry transactions.

Representative Experience

  • Tecno Fast S.A., a Latin American leader in design, automated manufacturing, lease, and sale of modular space in its acquisition of Triumph Modular, provider of innovative modular space and portable storage solutions throughout the Northeast US
  • Represented Prime Coalition in forming Prime Impact Fund, an innovative pooled vehicle aggregating philanthropic and mission-related capital to support breakthrough climate tech start-ups, and closing on approximately $50 million in capital commitments 
  • Assisted Global Forest Partners LP (GFP) with the creation of a timber investment fund (GFP Chile Timberland Holdings LLC) with an institutional investor and the subsequent acquisition of the Chilean forestry assets of Masisa S.A in a $350 million transaction. 
  • Acquisition by timber fund advised by Global Forest Partners of hardwood forestry assets currently owned by RMS Forest Growth International LP and RMS Australian Forests Fund I LP located in Tasmania, Australia PE. 
  • Represented Rand-Whitney Container LLC in its acquisition of the assets of Specialty Finance & Consulting Corporation.
  • Represented New-Indy Containerboard, LLC, a joint venture by The Kraft Group, LLC, and Schwarz Partners, L.P., in its acquisition of the Catawba, South Carolina paper and pulp mill business owned by Resolute Forest Products Inc. (NYSE: RFP) for  approximately $300 million. 
  • Represented Nelson Properties Limited, a portfolio company managed by Global Forest Partners LP, in the sale of its subsidiary, Nelson Forests Limited, one of New Zealand's leading forestry businesses, to Australian forestry company OneFortyOne Plantations. 
  • Represented the shareholders of the Northern Harvest Sea Farms group in its sale to Marine Harvest for CAD 315 million.
  • Represented International Data Group, Inc. in its acquisition by China Oceanwide and IDG Capital, Inc. 
  • Represented True Green Capital Management LLC in the closing of its $113M fund, the True Green Capital Opportunity Partnership, L.P.
  • Represented CleanCapital in a financing transaction with Generate Capital to fund the acquisition of up to $300 million in distributed solar assets.
  • Represented CommonAngels in numerous transactions including Vivoom, Loci Controls and Podium Data.
  • Represented System Industrie Electronic Holding AG in the sale of its subsidiary, SIE Computing Solutions, Inc.
  • Represented Arcam AB in its acquisition of DiStanto Technology, Inc.
  • Represented Te Waihou Plantations Limited in connection with its acquisition of forestry land and related assets from Carter Holt Harvey HBU Limited.
  • Acquisition of Interactive Supercomputing by Microsoft.
  • ABIOMED, Inc.’s acquisition of Impella CardioSystems AG.
  • Extensive experience with international forestry transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions of forestry land and related assets in New Zealand and Australia.
