Nathanial McPherson focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation matters trying patent and trade secrets cases in federal courts and before the International Trade Commission.
Drawing on experience that spans more than a decade and a half, Nate approaches each case from the perspective of a seasoned trial litigator with the strategic goals of his clients foremost in mind. He works closely with clients to quickly and thoroughly investigate issues as they arise — whether it be to investigate allegations in demand letters, potential infringement, or theft of trade secrets. And when further action does ensue, Nate is prepared to assist his clients through all phases of litigation and work toward a successful outcome while seeking to minimize disruptions to the client’s business.

During law school, Nate worked as a law clerk in the IP litigation practice of a global law firm. Prior to law school, he worked as a patent litigation coordinator at another global law firm where he managed litigation support staff for a large IP practice and worked with firm lawyers and clients on more than a hundred patent litigation matters, including on dozens of hearings and trials. Prior to joining Foley Hoag, Nate worked in the Boston office of another global law firm.
Nate maintains an active pro bono practice having represented numerous disabled veterans in their appeals for denial of disability benefits before the Court of Federal Claims and the Physical Disability Board of Review. He has frequently represented disabled citizenship applicants at their citizenship interviews before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
