  • On behalf of a prominent healthcare company, we negotiated collective bargaining agreements with a variety of unions at seven different hospitals. We also litigated numerous disputes before the National Labor Relations Board arising out of these negotiations. All contracts were settled on favorable terms and all litigation against client was dismissed.
  • Advised and represented a biotech company in connection with change-of-control agreements with executives which were triggered when the company was acquired.  This has included litigating over a dozen claims brought by executives who were denied benefits under the change-of-control agreements.
  • Representing a well-known brand/national retail chain in union negotiations, organizing campaigns and related litigation with unions in multi-state locations across the United States.
  • Represented a time-share company in a class action brought by current and former sales managers who alleged that they were deprived of all wages due and that the company improperly charged-back earned commissions.
  • Successfully represented a client in defending against claims of associational handicap discrimination, tortious interference and intentional infliction of emotional distress brought by a former employee in Massachusetts Superior Court.  The case involved a case of first impression as to whether a claim of discrimination based on relationship with a disabled family member is available under the Massachusetts anti-discrimination statute.  We were successful in obtaining dismissal of that claim as well as the related common law claims.  The matter currently is being appealed.
  • Assisting a client involved in the biopharmaceutal field comply with its obligations under wage and hour laws across the country.  This has involved representing the company in administrative hearings and proceedings in multiple states, reformulating its strategies concerning the United States and categorization of employees and independent contractors, and revising and drafting agreements.
  • Represent a national retailer with regard to employment issues nationwide.  This includes litigation brought in state and federal courts and agencies throughout the United States.  We also provide the company with advice and counseling for its nationwide operations.
  • Represented a national power generator in its acquisition and its subsequent disposition of several unionized power plants in the Northeast.
  • Obtained a favorable verdict for a biomedical industry client after a bench trial in U.S. District Court, convincing the court to dismiss a prosecution by the Department of Labor alleging misclassification of salaried employees.
  • Successfully represented numerous employers in defending claims of failure to pay wages under various states' payment of wages laws. We have defeated numerous attempts by plaintiffs' attorneys to expand the scope of payment of wage laws to include non-wage compensation, such as severance pay, bonuses and stock options.
