The members of Foley Hoag’s international litigation and arbitration department practice with the shared goal of providing clients with exceptional and effective professional service. Collectively they make up what is recognized as one of the world’s leading international arbitration practices.
Foley Hoag’s international litigation and arbitration team is active on matters across the globe. Composed of some 60 lawyers of more than 40 nationalities, the team is one of the largest, most richly diverse and most experienced on the market. The Paris office contingent includes a dozen arbitration specialists (seven partners, one special counsel, one counsel and eight associates). These lawyers based in Paris work seamlessly with their peers in the firm’s Boston, New York and Washington DC offices.
The practice is structured around two principal axes: investor-State arbitration and inter-State litigation, on the one hand, and commercial arbitration, on the other.
Foley Hoag’s lawyers are thus routinely involved in public international law disputes based on international treaties, including disputes regarding investment protection, maritime and land boundary delimitation and State responsibility under international law. They appear in proceedings under the auspices of institutions with both general (e.g., ICJ, ICSID, PCA) and specific (e.g., ITLOS, NAFTA) jurisdiction.More »
