2023 Foley Hoag Foundation Spring Grant Round Awards
The Trustees of the Foley Hoag Foundation are pleased to announce the awarding of grants totaling totaling $99,000 to 20 organizations this Spring as part of the 2023 Spring grant cycle. The organizations that the Foundation has funded are all dedicated to working to improve social equality by increasing access to the arts, stimulating community engagement, providing legal services, improving access to health services, offering educational programming and assistance, or running youth development programs.
Brazilian Worker Center — to support its programs and services related to workers’ rights for Boston’s immigrant communities.
Circus Up — for Kirkos, a youth development community circus troupe.
Communities for Restorative Justice — towards supporting the hiring of a case manager to expand the organization’s court-alternative restorative justice services in Middlesex and Suffolk counties.
GenUnity — to support a community leadership program that empowers residents to co-create solutions alongside institutions with respect to housing insecurity.
Greater Malden Asian American Community Coalition — towards its youth-led youth development programs that build leadership skills to help participants better navigate challenges facing Asian-Americans.
Guerilla Opera — to produce “Ululations,” an operatic work that centers dancers from the deaf community and American and Spanish sign languages.
One Bead Project — to assist with bringing BIPOC leaders and professionals to speak with students at Boston Public Schools.
SparkShare — to empower young people to work across organizations, neighborhoods, generations and ideologies to innovate and build better solutions to social programs in their communities.
NEW YORK CITY
The Black Institute — to assess and address the inequities preventing minority and women owned business enterprises from accessing capital and contracts from New York City.
Sunset Spark — for supplies for its free STEM summer programming, which focuses on kids from working class and/or immigrant families
WASHINGTON, D.C.
Amara Legal Center — to support the provision of free legal services to survivors of sex trafficking and sex workers in the DC-metro area.
Girls on the Run, DC — to support its after-school enrichment program for girls that integrates social-emotional learning, mentoring and running-based physical activities.
HER Resiliency Center — to support it Roadmap to Success program, which supports women in accomplishing their self-identified goals for empowerment.
Urban Ed — to support its STEMAcad program that trains and recruits underemployed women and people of color for jobs in the IT industry.
