Our Commitment

Law Students for Climate Accountability

Foley Hoag’s is pleased to have received an "A" grade from Law Students for Climate Accountability, a student-led organization that seeks to amplify the roles and responsibilities of the legal industry in our current climate crisis, in their 2024 Law Firm Climate Change Scorecard, marking the second consecutive year the firm has received this recognition. The Scorecard ranks the "Vault 100" law firms according to how much fossil fuels work they have engaged in over a five-year period.

Lawyers for a Sustainable Economy

Foley Hoag committed to donate legal services worth at least $1.5 million in 2024 through the Lawyers for a Sustainable Economy (LSE) initiative, a law firm-led effort to provide pro bono legal services to sustainability-focused entrepreneurs and nonprofits, organized by Stanford Law School and Stanford’s Precourt Institute for Energy.

Foley Hoag’s pledge to join the Net Zero Lawyers Alliance and reach net zero by 2050 represents our commitment to environmental protection and decarbonization. By reviewing our practices, establishing better waste management initiatives, and evaluating our overall supply chains, we are taking measurable steps to creating a greener future.

The Campaign for Greener Arbitrations

Foley Hoag announced it has signed The Green Pledge, an initiative by The Campaign for Greener Arbitrations to reduce the environmental impact of international arbitrations. In signing, the firm commits to pursuing the pledges’ eight guiding principles to promote environmentally sustainable arbitration practices, including relying on electronic communications and videoconferencing where possible, partnering with sustainable service providers, and offsetting carbon emissions for any necessary travel.
