Foley Hoag Event

Hot Topics in Infrastructure: A Case Study in Successful Integrated Project Delivery

January 18, 2013

Conventional wisdom in project delivery holds that of scope, quality and cost; the best an owner can hope to achieve is two out of three. Foley Hoag's next event intends to demonstrate that even on a complex, public/private research facility project, an owner can do better. The Challenge The Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery (WID), composed of a public educational entity and a private biomedical research organization, was envisioned as a trailblazing model for collaborative research and facility design. Systems biology, gene activation, tissue engineering, regenerative biology, medical devices, and in-home healthcare technologies were all to be studied in the Institutes’ reconfigurable labs. What's more, the facility was required to last 100 years and achieve 50 percent reductions in CO2 emissions and water use compared to similar facilities. The Winning Approach Foley Hoag's Real Estate & Development Group hosts the WID's owner representative George Austin and its legal counsel Kevin Delorey to lead an interactive program highlighting strategies, challenges, and solutions leading to delivering the WID project on time and on budget. They will share their approach to: Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) amid the complexities of a multi-party agreement Early collaboration steps Budget driven design strategies Bold risk/reward sharing

We hope you will join us for this insightful program.
