The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has adopted numerous initiatives in the past year that are intended to advance health equity and address social determinants of health. The agency has issued guidance documents and has approved section 1115 Medicaid waivers in states that are intended to improve health access for underserved populations. Tom's session will explore the CMS guidance, the key features of the 1115 waivers that have been granted to date, and how CMS intends to respond to state Medicaid agency requests to address social determinants of health in their Medicaid programs.
