Foley Hoag to Host Northeast Energy and Commerce Association's Inaugural Awards Night

September 27, 2014

Foley Hoag LLP will serve as host and premier sponsor of the Northeast Energy and Commerce Association's (NECA) first annual Awards Night event, to be held on October 2, 2014 at the firm's office in Boston's Innovation District. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Cheryl LaFleur and Ambri Inc. CEO Phil Giudice will be recognized by NECA as visionaries in the energy industry.

LaFleur is the recipient of NECA's Vanguard Award, which honors an individual who has made a substantial contribution to the development and maturation of competitive markets in the Northeast.

LaFleur was first nominated by President Barack Obama to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in 2010 and was confirmed for a second term by the Senate in 2014. With over 25 years’ experience in the electric and natural gas industry, she has been an active leader in the growth of energy efficiency, the introduction of competitive energy markets, the development of strategies for environmental improvement, and efforts to strengthen reliability and safety.

Giudice will receive NECA's Innovation Award, given to an individual who has introduced transformational business models, technologies or policy solutions that have strengthened the competitive markets in the Northeast.

As CEO of Ambri, Giudice leads efforts in creating cost effective, reliable, widespread grid electricity storage solutions, enabling separation of power demand from power supply. Giudice has more than 30 years' experience in the energy industry as a geologist, consultant, executive and state official with a focus on delivering innovative solutions to the energy industry. He previously served as Massachusetts Undersecretary of Energy and as Commissioner of the Department of Energy Resources.

NECA is New England's oldest and most broadly-based, non-profit trade association serving the competitive electric power industry. Founded in 1985, its purpose is to facilitate an open forum among all electric power stakeholders to foster the development and maturation of competitive power markets.
