Foley Hoag Attorney Tafadzwa Pasipanodya to Speak at 2015 African Association of International Law Conference

Foley Hoag LLP attorney Tafadzwa Pasipanodya of the firm’s International Litigation and Arbitration practice will be a featured presenter at the 2015 African Association of International Law Conference, being held August 29-30, 2015 in Libreville, Gabon.

The theme of this multi-day event is “International Law & Economic Development in Africa: Challenges and Opportunities." Throughout the conference, multiple panels and breakout sessions will examine the role of international law in both exploiting the opportunities presented by the continent’s recent impressive GDP growth, and in addressing the challenges presented by inequality, political fragility and terrorism.

Pasipanodya will participate on the "International Economic Law & Development" panel, where she will discuss the law of the sea’s role in steering Africa’s blue economy.

The African Association of International Law (AAIL), one of the first academic societies on the continent of Africa in the field of international law, was established in 1986 by the leading international lawyers on the continent. Its objectives are to foster the development and dissemination of African perspectives and practices of international law; assist in the development of international law, recognizing the special needs of Africa; and promote the teaching of international law in Africa.
