Foley Hoag Ranks Among World’s Top Arbitration Firms in Annual American Lawyer International Survey

July 23, 2015

Foley Hoag LLP has been named one of the top international arbitration law firms in the world by the American Lawyer International’s 2015 Arbitration Scorecard. The scorecard ranks law firms by the value of arbitration decisions secured in 2013-2014 and how many favorable decisions a firm wins for clients in a year.

The scorecard placed Foley Hoag in the top 20 international firms based on total number of arbitrations, treaty arbitrations and contract arbitrations. The firm was tied for sixth place among law firms for the largest number of arbitrations exceeding $1 billion in 2013-2014, and tied for the fourth largest defense win during that period.

Foley Hoag had 10 arbitrations of more than $1 billion in 2013-2014. In the defense action, Foley Hoag and partner firm Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick turned aside a $2 billion claim against the Belgian government by Chinese insurer Ping An. Foley Hoag's International Litigation and Arbitration team in that case was headed by Washington, D.C. office managing partner Ronald Goodman and special counsel Pierre d'Argent. The Foley Hoag team also consisted of international associates Constantinos Salonidis and Yuri Parkhomenko, and associates Diana Tsutieva and Angelynn Meya.

Goodman is co-chair of Foley Hoag’s International Litigation and Arbitration Practice, along with partner Paul Reichler. The International Arbitration and Litigation practice is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.

Foley Hoag is globally recognized for handling high profile international sovereign and commercial disputes.
