August 25, 2016

Foley Hoag LLP partner Kenneth Figueroa will participate in the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Arbitration Conference, being held on August 26, 2016 in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The event will focus on solving problems currently arising from the practice of international arbitration.

Figueroa’s panel, “Recent Modalities in International Arbitration Practice," will address topics dealing with the latest issues in international arbitration, including transparency vs. privacy; the Brexit dilemma and associated impacts on international arbitration practice; and why mediation combined with arbitration is booming in energy and other dispute resolution. Figueroa's specific presentation will focus on the phenomenon of third party funders and the issues that arise from their increasing role in international commercial and investor-State arbitration.

As a member of Foley Hoag's International Litigation and Arbitration practice, Figueroa concentrates on international disputes, particularly investor-State matters, commercial arbitration and sovereign representation. He principally represents foreign States and State-owned entities before U.S. federal courts and international arbitral tribunals.
