WTR 1000 – The World's Leading Trademark Professionals 2016 recommends individual practitioners and their firms exclusively in the trademark field, and identifies the leading players in 71 key jurisdictions globally. This year’s rankings placed Foley Hoag in the silver category.

Partner Julia Huston, Chair of the firm’s Trademark, Copyright and Unfair Competition Practice, was ranked in the gold category in enforcement and litigation, and in the silver category in prosecution and strategy. Partner Joshua Jarvis and Counsel Susan Barbieri Montgomery were both ranked in the bronze category in prosecution and strategy.

"Premier representation across the trademark spectrum is on tap at Foley Hoag," the WTR’s assessment states. “Forward-looking leadership is a hallmark of the firm, with many of its practitioners actively participating in the development of IP thought and practice.”

The review recognized Huston for her “abundant experience and expertise” in parallel imports. Jarvis was “applauded for customs and borders work,” and was cited for having “a keen eye when it comes to complex issues such as grey-market goods.” His work on Internet assignments and his “sage domain name advice” was also acknowledged. Additionally, Barbieri was recognized for her "scholarly approach to trademark conundrums."

Foley Hoag represents both domestic and international clients in trademark matters. The firm’s trademark clients are leaders in a wide range of industries, including life sciences, consumer products, technology, insurance and financial services, professional services, entertainment and education.
