Foley Hoag LLP partner Paul Reichler has been named one of Latin America's top 100 lawyers in arbitration & litigation for 2017 by Latinvex, an online publisher of daily news and weekly analysis on Latin American business.
Each year, the editorial staff of Latinvex selects the top attorneys from international law firms that represent Latin American clients. The publication ranked Reichler among the top lawyers in the arbitration & litigation category, highlighting his role in the landmark victory for Uruguay against tobacco giant Philip Morris in an ICSID arbitration that challenged Uruguay's aggressive public health regulation of cigarette marketing and packaging. Reichler also helped Nicaragua achieve victories in the International Court of Justice in cases against Costa Rica and Colombia.
Reichler is Chair of Foley Hoag’s International Litigation and Arbitration Department. He has over three decades of experience representing Sovereign States in disputes with other States, and with foreign investors.
He belongs to a select group of advocates with extensive experience litigating before the International Court of Justice in the Hague, and the International Tribunal on the Law of the Sea in Hamburg. He also represents States before courts of the United States, and is one of the leading experts on litigation under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act.
