Foley Hoag Partner Kenneth Figueroa to Speak at XII International Arbitration Conference

Foley Hoag LLP partner Kenneth Figueroa will be a featured speaker at the XII International Arbitration Conference of the Ecuadorian Institute of Arbitration (EIA), being held April 4, 2019 in Quito, Ecuador.

Figueroa will take part in a panel entitled “Corruption plots in Latin America and their implications in Arbitration,” where he will address issues relating to allegations of Corruption in Investments in Investment Arbitration and the confluence of International and national laws. He will also discuss how arbitration has acquired a preponderant role in corruption cases, and the difficult task of defining how far an arbitrator should go in cases of this nature.

As a member of Foley Hoag’s International Litigation & Arbitration Department, Figueroa has substantial experience in international arbitration matters, particularly in Latin America. His practice focuses on international disputes, particularly on investor-State matters, commercial arbitration, and sovereign representation.

EIA promotes numerous events of dissemination, discussion and teaching in arbitration matters. Each year it jointly organizes the International Arbitration Conference with the Center for Mediation and Arbitration of the Chamber of Commerce Ecuadorian American (Amcham Quito) and the San Francisco University in Quito to bring international and national experts together to exchange ideas on current issues in arbitration.
