Foley Hoag LLP partner Tafadzwa Pasipanodya will be a featured speaker at the inaugural GAR Live Women in Arbitration Conference on December 5, 2019, taking place at Fishmongers' Hall in London. While the conference is an inclusive event open to both men and women, it was designed by and will feature only female arbitration practitioners as speakers.
Pasipanodya will participate in the session titled “Africa: A Regional Study.” She and fellow panelists will discuss a variety of hot topics and challenges in African arbitration, including disputes arising out of Chinese infrastructure projects in Africa, enforcement of awards against African states, investor-state dispute settlement reform, diversity of arbitral appointments, and the latest developments in state-to-state arbitrations involving African states.
As a member of Foley Hoag’s International Litigation & Arbitration Department, Pasipanodya represents sovereign States in contentious and advisory matters concerning international law. Her practice is focused on advising States in investor-State arbitrations and State-to-State disputes concerning mineral resources, environmental harm, territorial and maritime claims, as well as human rights. She also serves as co-chair of Foley Hoag’s Africa Practice.
