Foley Hoag LLP has been named one of Law360’s 2020 “Practice Groups of the Year” for International Arbitration. The firm’s International Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group was selected from more than 775 submissions of legal industry leaders for the group’s distinguished record in the handling of complex state-to-state disputes and investor-state arbitrations.
Foley Hoag’s International Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group includes more than 50 highly experienced international attorneys and is co-chaired by Paul Reichler and Lawrence Martin.
"We’re pleased to be selected as Law360’s 2020 International Arbitration Practice Group of the Year,” said Paul Reichler, partner and co-chair of Foley Hoag’s International Litigation and Arbitration Department. “Our team understands the varied intricacies of international law and possesses unrivaled skill in both written and oral advocacy, to provide our clients with the highest level of expertise."
The group gained global recognition for its skillful representation of The Gambia in its case against Myanmar for failing to punish acts of genocide against Rohingya Muslims, winning a rare 17-0 decision before the International Court of Justice, and the group led the Republic of Mauritius to victory in an International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes case, blocking U.K. investors from building a luxury resort at the Le Morne Cultural Landscape, a mountain and UNESCO World Heritage site commemorating resistance against slavery.
“The strength of the International Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group at Foley Hoag stems from the diversity of voices within the team,” said partner Tafadzwa Pasipanodya. “This recognition is a testament to our firm’s focus on the advancement and professional development of women attorneys and of those attorneys with diverse backgrounds.”
