Leading Individual, Next Generation Partner, Rising Star Status Bestowed
Foley Hoag's International Litigation & Arbitration practice and three of its lawyers have been recognized for excellence and deal accomplishments in the 2023 edition of The Legal 500 Latin America.
The directory provides an objective analysis on leading law firms in the Latin American market in various areas of law. Rankings are based on in-depth research, including feedback from clients and peers, to highlight firms with a truly national presence and the capability to handle sophisticated and complex work.
In addition to ranking Foley Hoag among the top firms in International Arbitration, partner Kenneth Figueroa was recognized as a Leading Individual, partner Clara Brillembourg as a Next Generation Partner, and partner Ofilio Mayorga as a Rising Star.
The firm’s Latin America practice was formally established in 2021, and is co-chaired by Figueroa and Brillembourg. The group has evolved over the years to become a leading defender of Latin American States and State-owned entities in State-State disputes, Investment Arbitration, Commercial Arbitration, and litigation before U.S. and French courts.
Sources describe Figueroa as “thorough and engaged” as well as “efficient and responsive,” and Brillembourg as “highly practical and strategically gifted” and praise her for delivering “service of the highest quality and is focused on achieving successful results.” The team is described by sources as “responsive to any questions or queries and take the time to understand client needs.” Legal500 also noted partners Derek Smith and Tafadzwa Pasipanodya for “providing active senior support to the Latin America team.”
