Foley Hoag LLP represented Alcyone Therapeutics (Alcyone) in the negotiation of a license and collaboration agreement with Biogen Inc. (Nasdaq: BIIB) to develop Alcyone’s ThecaFlex DRx™ System, an implantable medical device for intrathecal drug delivery. Biogen will pay $10 million up front and Alcyone is eligible for up to $41 million in potential milestone payments.
Through this agreement, Biogen aims to leverage the ThecaFlex DRx™ System with a goal of improving the patient treatment experience and accessibility for a broader population of people suffering from neurological disorders, such as spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
