Austin Hachey, Ph.D.

Patent Agent
Boston

I utilize my expertise in biological and organic chemistry to ensure that life science clients’ innovations are robustly protected.

Dr. Austin Hachey is a patent agent with expertise in bioorganic, bioinorganic, and medicinal organic chemistry. With a background spanning the chemical and biological sciences, he has contributed scholarly articles in the fields of innate immunology, photochemistry and photobiology, and medicinal chemistry.

Prior to joining Foley Hoag in 2023, Austin received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Kentucky under the guidance of Prof. Edith Glazer. His dissertation focused on the design, synthesis, and biological study of small-molecule inhibitors of cytochrome P450 1B1. Prior to his graduate work, Austin was a research technician at the Massachusetts General Hospital within the laboratory of Prof. Marcia Goldberg. His project focused on elucidating the immunological role of NLRP11, a novel lipopolysaccharide sensor found in human macrophages, during Shigella infection. While pursuing his undergraduate degree in biochemistry & molecular biology, Austin studied in-vitro protein folding with Prof. Lila Gierasch.
