The Trustees of the Foley Hoag Foundation are pleased to announce that the Foundation has awarded grants totaling $100,000 to 19 organizations in June 2024 as part of the Foundation’s 2024 Spring grant cycle. The organizations that the Foundation has funded are all dedicated to working to improve social equity by increasing access to the arts, stimulating community engagement, providing legal services, improving access to health services, offering educational programming and assistance, or running youth development programs.
The grantees of the Foundation’s 2024 Spring grant cycle are based in Boston, New York City, and Washington, D.C., and are as follows:
Boston Organizations
Art Resource Collaborative for Kids: to support ARCK’s in-school program, which brings teaching artists into K-8 Boston Public School classrooms to teach creative arts with a focus on self-awareness, community, and social justice.
Communities for Restorative Justice: for general operating support to continue expanding into Suffolk County as a community-based resource for resolving conflict and offering its training programs for criminal justice staff such as ADAs and Victim Advocates, as well as police department marketing.
One Bead Project: to support the school interview series, and specifically to support two instructors tasked with facilitating 10-15 interviews at each of the Boston Public Schools with which One Bead is partnered.
Prison Book Program: to support the publication and dissemination of the Insider’s Guide to Jailhouse Law to incarcerated individuals detained in the Greater Boston area.
Social Mobility Project d/b/a The Upward Project: to support the internship and career development program, supporting college scholars in finding career-aligned internships and other opportunities that match their abilities and goals to put them on a path to finding a rewarding job post-graduation.
Spark Share: to increase the amount of time, resources, and personnel available to support teams as they learn, practice, and apply their problem-solving skills and expand the Network.
Student Clinic for Immigrant Justice: to expand access to representation for asylum seekers and train a new cohort of students with intersectional identities to engage in the fight for immigrant justice.
The Heart of a Giant Foundation: to support the blood pressure screening and education program, providing at least 100 events in the greater Boston area and reaching 600 to 800 individuals in 2024.
Tree Eastie: to plant more trees in high urban heat islands, educate residents on the benefits of trees, and ensure the proper maintenance and care of new and existing trees.
Triangle f/b/o Empowering People for Inclusive Communities (EPIC): to support the Service Warriors program, which prepares young people with disabilities to be actively engaged community leaders, eliminating ableism and equipping the world for today’s disabled leaders.
New York City Organizations
Chinatown Youth Initiatives: to support the expanded Summer Leadership Institute program, which teaches young people about AAPI issues and how to enact change as young leaders.
DelgraciaCorp: to support the Home Sweet Home program, which provides essential goods and assistance obtaining services to families transitioning from foster care into independent living.
Staten Island Urban Center: to add a youth and performance kiosk at the Tompkinsville AfroCaribbean and Latinx Food and Spice Market in Staten Island.
Washington D.C. Organizations
Ashiyanaa: to support services for South Asian women facing domestic violence and South Asian seniors experiencing social isolation and neglect.
Mary House: in general operating support to provide housing and support services to low-income immigrant and refugee families.
Social Good Fund f/b/o The Platform of Hope: in general operating support for an interdisciplinary coaching/navigator approach to addressing families’ needs related to affordable housing, asset building, child development, arts, education, health, and wellness.
Youth Activism Project: in general operating support to continue empowering youth to amplify their voices through policy advocacy and community organizing.
