Legal publisher Law360 has named Foley Hoag LLP partner Thomas Barker a winner of its annual Most Valuable Players (MVP) Awards. Barker, who co-chairs the firm’s Healthcare Practice, was recognized as a Health MVP for his work on complex federal and state health care legal and regulatory matters.
Law360’s annual MVP Awards honor elite attorneys who have distinguished themselves from their peers with hard-earned success in high-stakes litigation, significant deals or complex global matters over the course of the last year. This year, Law360’s editors reviewed nearly 1,000 MVP submissions detailing individual achievements and selected 162 attorneys spanning 35 different practices areas.
Barker was recognized for being the regulatory lead in a team that secured a unanimous, three-judge decision from the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals which struck down an Arkansas law restricting pharmacy benefit management (PBM) tools and requiring employers and consumers to pay higher rates to independent drugstores for prescription drugs. Law360 also noted Barker’s successful representation of both the Massachusetts Hospital Association and the Federation of American Hospitals in securing new reimbursement practices from CMS.
In addition to Law360’s distinguished MVP recognition, Barker has also been recognized by the Best Lawyers in America for Health Care Law for four consecutive years from 2016 to 2019 and ranked by Chambers USA America’s Leading Lawyers for Business as one of Massachusetts’ leading healthcare lawyers for eight consecutive years from 2011 to 2018.
