Foley Hoag LLP announced that partners Chip Korn (New York) and Erica Rice (Boston) have been named Co-Chairs of the firm’s Business Department. The pair join current Co-Chair Mark Barnett (Boston), in providing strategic direction to the firm’s market-leading corporate practices, which are comprised of over 100 lawyers.

Korn has spent nearly 30 years counseling high growth companies and their investors. He provides guidance on venture capital and private equity matters, mergers and acquisitions transactions, and general corporate matters. He works actively with emerging growth and other technology companies, as well as with the entrepreneurs behind them, at all stages of a company's growth process, from incorporation through exit strategies.
Rice focuses her practice on representing buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions and other strategic transactions, as well as counseling emerging growth companies. She has a particular focus on the cannabis, life sciences and technology industries. She was recently
recognized by The Deal in its 2023 Top "Women in Dealmaking" list (M&A category.)
Further elevations within the Business Department were also announced. Sara Mattern has been named Co-Chair of the Emerging Company & Venture Capital practice group; she joins current Co-Chair Patrick Connolly. Jeongseok Jay Yu, who joined the firm in August 2023, has been named Co-Chair of the Private Equity Transactions practice group, joining current Co-Chair Peter Rosenblum.
Mattern guides emerging companies, investors and renewable energy companies on financings and strategic development. Yu focuses on private equity and public and private companies in connection with domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance matters, minority investment, divestitures, joint ventures and restructuring.
