Foley Hoag announced today that Ken Lewis has joined the firm's Business Department as a partner. Lewis has more than three decades of experience advising clients in North Carolina and throughout the Southeast on a wide range of corporate, transactional, and securities matters.
Lewis represents clients in mergers and acquisitions and the formation of strategic alliances. He advises on domestic and international commercial transactions and on all aspects of corporate and real estate finance, including representing lenders, borrowers, and investors in the negotiation and documentation of debt and equity transactions. He has worked with clients in the life sciences, technology, financial services, health care, sports and entertainment, manufacturing, and distribution sectors.
"Ken brings a track record of successfully guiding companies, investors, and lenders through complex deals,” said Managing Partner Jim Bucking. "His addition strengthens our ability to serve clients in the Research Triangle region and across North Carolina, while complementing the transactional work we do firmwide."
"Foley Hoag's strong reputation and collaborative, industry-focused approach made the firm a natural fit for my practice," said Lewis. "I look forward to working with my new colleagues to bring the full breadth of the platform to my clients in North Carolina and to support the firm's growing client base across the region."
Lewis has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for Corporate Law since 2014, and was named to Lawyers of Color's inaugural Nation's Best List in 2019. Lewis is past chair of the Subcommittee on Emerging Business of the North Carolina Bar Association's Business Section.
Lewis earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his A.B. from Duke University. He began his legal career as a law clerk to Associate Justice Henry E. Frye of the North Carolina Supreme Court. He joins Foley Hoag from another national law firm.
Foley Hoag maintains longstanding relationships with companies in the Research Triangle, where the region's strengths in life sciences, technology, climate tech and energy, higher education, and other innovation-driven industries align with the firm's core industry focus.
