Josh Matloff leverages his experience in computer and electrical engineering to counsel companies and universities on high technology. His practice includes patent prosecution, strategy, and portfolio management, as well as advising on open-source software licensing.
Josh works with clients to develop strategies to draft and manage their worldwide patent portfolios for devices and computing technologies. Josh uses his background and technical expertise in computer systems engineering to advise clients on their patent portfolios in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), automation, robotics, software, cloud computing, telecommunications, optics, computer systems, hardware, and circuits. Josh has recent experience working on several patent portfolios on artificial intelligence methods for drug discovery and clinical trials.
Josh is also a Black Duck Certified Open Source Legal Professional and advises clients on open source software licenses.

Experience
Mined patent disclosures of many large worldwide patent families in the fields of autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, and robotics and prosecuted them to allowance.*
Defended a client producing Internet of Things devices against assertions of infringement of a portfolio of over 100 networking patents by a non-practicing entity. Josh led the technical analyses of the client’s products, legal analysis of the patent portfolio, and negotiated favorable settlement for the client.*
