Commonweal Ventures & Cory Doctorow: A Discussion on Enshittification: Why Everything Suddenly Got Worse and What to Do About It

April 29, 2026

Commonweal Ventures is pleased to host Cory Doctorow for a conversation on his bestselling book, Enshittification: Why Everything Suddenly Got Worse and What to Do About It. Doctorow, a prominent author and activist focused on technology, digital rights, and corporate power, coined the term "enshittification" to describe the lifecycle by which online platforms degrade their products and services to maximize shareholder returns. His book examines how weakened antitrust enforcement, regulatory capture, and diminished worker power have driven this trend, and outlines paths toward reversing it.

Doctorow will be joined in conversation by Nate Loewentheil, managing partner of Commonweal Ventures and former Obama White House advisor. The discussion will be followed by audience Q&A.
