Foley Hoag LLP partner Erica Rice has been named one of the venture capital communitiy's 40 Rising Stars under 40 by Venture Capital Journal (VCJ). VCJ’s debut ranking features 40 up-and-comers under the age of 40 in the global venture community.
Winners were selected from a field of over 120 nominees based on their accomplishments, expertise, and contributions to their firms and the industry, among other criteria.
According to the publication, "Rice is establishing a name for herself in emerging industries, particularly in blockchain and cannabis. In the past year alone, she has led more than a dozen transactions in the cannabis sector, representing some of the largest industry players while navigating the complex regulatory landscape. The firm says she is influencing guidelines in an industry where official rules are not yet in place and where many attorneys are not yet willing to provide counsel. She also was on the team that represented LevelUp in its $390 million sale to Grubhub."
At Foley Hoag, Rice's practice is focused on representing buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions and other strategic transactions, as well as counseling early and mid-stage companies regarding entity formation, founder’s arrangements, financings, licensing agreements, exit strategies and general corporate governance.
