Ben Kalman is an associate in the Business Department, working primarily with the firm’s Emerging Companies and Venture Capital group. His practice involves advising technology companies on a wide range of corporate matters, including formation, financing and other transactions, and general governance considerations.

Capitalizing on years of experience working in-house at startup technology companies, Ben focuses on the regulatory and legal environments surrounding data privacy, cybersecurity, digital payments and assets, and other emerging technologies. Ben holds both a JD and LLM in Banking and Financial Law from Boston University School of Law.

  • The Executive Management Team of Winged Keel Group, an independent life insurance brokerage firm specializing in inter-generational wealth accumulation and estate planning strategies, in a strategic investment by GTCR, a private equity firm
  • Kivera, a New York-based cloud security, data protection and compliance company in its sale to CloudFlare (NYSE: NET), a leading connectivity cloud company
  • FX HedgePool, a major institutional swap matching service, in a strategic acquisition by LMAX Group, the leading independent operator of institutional execution ventures for FX and digital assets trading
  • Omeros Corporation ("Omeros"), a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company, in its monetization of an additional portion of its royalty interests in respect of US net sales of OMIDRIA. DRI Healthcare Acquisitions LP ("DRI"), the purchaser in the monetization, made an up-front payment to Omeros of $115 million, and will make additional payments to Omeros of up to $55 million if US net sales of OMIDRIA exceed certain specified thresholds.
