Foley Hoag Names Caroline Donovan Litigation Department Co-Chair
May 04, 2023
Foley Hoag LLP announced that Caroline Donovan has been named co-chair of the firm’s Litigation Department alongside the department’s current co-chair, Kristyn DeFilipp. The two will work together to provide strategic oversight for the group, which consists of more than 70 lawyers in Boston, New York, Washington, D.C. and Denver.
Donovan is a partner in Foley Hoag’s White Collar Crimes & Government Investigations practice. She represents companies and individuals in government and internal investigations, and defending clients against civil and criminal allegations of fraud. Her work is focused in healthcare and other highly regulated industries.
Donovan is deeply committed to the firm's Pro Bono program, and has worked extensively on behalf of incarcerated persons and criminal defendants, including impact litigation, direct representation, and amicus support. She is a long-time collaborator with the ACLU, the ACLU of Massachusetts, and Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
“Caroline has been a tremendous asset to our clients and the firm over the course of her career. She is a talented lawyer and partner. I look forward to working with her and the rest of our team to ensure the ongoing success and continued growth of Foley Hoag and its Litigation Department,” said DeFilipp, who has served as co-chair since 2021.
Foley Hoag’s litigation practice focuses on complex, high-stakes disputes, with a particular emphasis on accounting and financial services; insurance recovery; white collar litigation and investigations; health care; trade secrets; and intellectual property. Earlier this year, the firm launched its Denver office with three insurance recovery lawyers, and it has experienced explosive growth of the litigation team in New York.
“Caroline is an extraordinary lawyer and mentor,” said Foley Hoag Managing Partner Jim Bucking. “Throughout her time at the firm, Caroline has been a proven leader with a strong focus on the development of our associates. Taking on this formal leadership role is a natural evolution for her career. I am enthusiastic about her ability to help take our litigation practice to new levels of achievement and expansion.”
